Lol, very good +1 [emoji3]

Re: Best Cat for Circumnavigation?

If you want to cut down on repairs and maintenance then keep the systems to a minimum. Lots of systems equates to lots of work.

The balance 526. Easy to single hand, fast enough to run from storms. Sails at wind speed . Several YouTube videos by manufacturer give all the features , make this one my pick.

Do not know what IMPI is, but Cheeky Monkey is still circumnavigating.

FP and Lagoons are perfectly suited for this purpose at half price if you are not in hurry and will make the traditional way.
Otherwise Catana's or even Nauthitec's can be an alternative; they are almost as fast as Outremer, with more payload and slightly cheaper..

Agree if you want a condo then buy a condo, if you want to sail then buy a sail boat, if you buy a sailboat and load it like a condo it will sail like a codo

Most cruisers that are circumnavigating can not afford a 1 million dollar catamaran.

The Big 3 Production Catamarans are perfect for the job at a price cruisers can afford. Cruisers are not racers, they want to enjoy the trip without white knuckles.

Most cruisers that are circumnavigating can't afford a new model of the big 3 production catamarans. Hell most can't afford a used model.
Myself being a cruiser and not a racer buy a sailboat that can sail. I'm not talking about white knuckle sailing I'm talking about the ability to be able to sail in light winds while the others are motoring.
To me a good example of an affordable cruiser that has good sailing ability would be one of the older FP's like the Fidji 39.

Sud Composites only built 18 of the Switch51 performance catamarans from 2001 to 2007.

They very rarely come on the market and when they do they are priced high and need some re-fitting.

There are also cruisers who want to enjoy the trip without the constant drone of a diesel.....
