And this is my point exactly.
You get an essentially new boat, albeit with an older but perfectly sound hull for a fraction of the price of the other.

For us, to get a cat with with all the gear that makes it work of a similar vintage and as much space and comfort as what we have, would have cost 15x more than what we paid.

That would take many more years of work
That would take many years parked in a marina at great expense
All those years working and parked in a marina you never get back.

The op made a comment along the lines of powered vessels cost to much because they use fuel and implied that a sailing catamaran would be cheaper in comparison.

I simply pointed out that this is not necessarily true.

No, its a 30 year old hull.
Everything else has been replaced with new, more modern gear.
