Boat web sites.

Interested in looking at used cats for sale web sites, also advice on where the best place USA,MED etc. to buy with the intention of sailing back to Oz after an extended cruise had been planning to go from here and am considering an offer for my present cat. now thinking may be better to fly over and cruise slowly back. Can offer similar advice from Australia if required. Thanks Geoff.

Hi Geoff - do you mean in addition to yachtworld.com? Any others I've ever looked at didn't provide anything I couldn't find on yachtworld.

The best place to buy may be driven by exchange rates - assuming you're in the "world class" market - world voyaging boats. Right now boats for sale in the US are historically underpriced from the perspective of European buyers, for example. I think your $OZ exchange may be similar. Whether or not this tips the scale to acquire a boat on the other side of the world has to be your call, obviously.

Hi Geoff!

I tend to agree with Dave in principal re. the Yachtworld site. However, here are some other sites of brokers who normally do not co-list on Yachtworld and similiar site:
- Untitled Document
- Erik Lerouge International
- Marine Scene Limited
- Bleu marine méditerranée (in French)

Also have a look at two magazine sites
- Multihulls Magazine On Line
- www.multihulls-world.com
for their used boats.

The "where" depends a lot on what you are looking for size/style/performance wise and the used multihull market and exchange rate for you. And not to forget the importation charges later on when you return home.
I find the US market quite "cheap", and believe that market could come down further due to the real estate situation there, but I do not find much on that multihull market which appeals to me. Same goes with my home South African market, nothing here for me! The Australian market I find plain expensive. Leaves Europe & sometimes NZ.
