BoatUS / Geico Exits Multi-hull Insurance FL

When we bought our first cat, Manta 42 in 2009 we got insurance through BoatUS. Now Geico is the BoatUS partner - not sure when that happened but we've been away from boating for a while.

Anyway, looking to purchase another Manta 42 and asked Geico to quote the policy. Was told that they have decided not to insure "boats of that type in Florida" any longer. Maybe it was just me but we've had no claims and current FICO north of 800.

Anyone else having trouble finding insurance carriers for multi-hulls?

Yes, it was a nightmare.

I used this agent and found him extremely helpful and I finally got insured. Just a satisfied customer:

Geico dropped their third-party providers as one-year contracts expired (yes, they gave about a 6-month warning). In my case, I contacted Geico directly and they provided a new one-year contract.. Bonus too as it is a slightly reduced rate from my previous provider. Frankly, I didn't realize my previous company was third-party...but I'm kinda' slow.
