Boatyard allowing DIY work in Massachusetts

We are looking for a boatyard that can haul out our Cat, 43' x 25' beam and allow us to work on it on the hard in southern MA/RI that won't break the bank? It has a 4' draft. The ones I have found so far won't allow you to do your own work.

Any suggestions?

Bristol marine in Somerset maybe, just up the river from fall river can haul you no problem. Lots of cats are stored there and people do their own work. No idea what quarantine rules currently are.

Thanks for the info. Their widest beam is 23. Ours is too big.

Not sure about the DIY, but try Fairhaven Shipyard, Fairhaven MA.
Just across the Harbor from New Bedford. I know they can haul your beam.

Fairhaven is not a diy yard.

Do any of you know of anymore DIY yards in MA? I need to find one, and fast.

Thank you in advance

You are in the north east, break the bank is all they know. You will have to move further south to DE before you get out of the bank breaking area. Maryland won’t charge you the use tax if your boat is out of the water.

try Shaw's Boatyard in Dighton MA, up Taunton River. Don't know how much DIY they allow, but I do know people working on their boats there. Can haul up to 28' beam.

Triad Boat Works in Mattapoiset, MA allows the owner's DIY, not outside trades.

Speak with Peter and see if they can haul and move your cat over to the yard (they need to unstep the mast at any case).
An excellent boatyard with great people!

Thank you! My daughter lives in Wareham.

We are currently docked in Mobile, AL and just went through 4 hurricanes. She did very well. Monthly docking fee is just $360. We can't beat it anywhere in the North East. I am going to have to depend on my southern cousins to get this refit done affordably. $1500 a month in RI for a spot is just insane.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but where are (were) you at in Mobile? We're coming off a circumnav with a a cat with a 26' foot beam and need a place to keep if for a bit. Can't believe marina prices have gone up so much in the past 10 years, so something around $360 makes my ears perk up.

Cheers- Matt
