It doesn't make a lot of consessions to the missus having all the comforts of home.

Amen to that! A lot of current multi’s are slooow as anything - some of these older designs clip along quite nicely. Anyway, could be a bargain for someone!

Crowther Buccaneer 36 in Darwin. Not so much cheap as 'good value' - and rare!

$98K or about $70,000 US for a Buc? I paid $25K US for mine. That one is nicer but not 3 times as nice.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

You're missing the point of the location. It's in Australia. Everything is more expensive here than it is in the States.
And I agree, event that obviously well-cared for boat would probably only be $40K in the States.
The last large tri sold here was a 35' Hitchiker that went for $30K (needing work), and before that a Farrier Command 10 (mint) for $75K.
There was a smaller less well known one that went for $20K a cuppla months ago, but it needed major work also.
Personally, I'd pay $60-or so for the Crowther, but it will probably end up selling for $75-ish.
Rarity is a factor here. They just don't come on the market often.
Looking at the smaller ply Farrier TTs, they regular get $15K for a project, and not much less for a major project.
They'd be $2-5K in States for the same boat.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

So the moral of the story is; end your sailing adventure in Australia and sell your boat here.

LOL....

If enough multihull owners did that, maybe the prices in Oz would eventually come down.....

39' Norman Cross Trimaran for $35K CAD

Love this thread!

How about a 39' Norman Cross Trimaran for $35K CAD (Canadian Dollars) located near Victoria, British Columbia. I'm NOT the owner just thought it was a interesting boat.

Wow! That’s a good way along the road to being done. Plenty of work still to do, but could be quite the deal for someone.
