If it’s a case of removing a bit of crap, finishing some woodwork and tweaking systems, 12 months on your own is easily achievable.

I think he was referring specifically to the Catana 48. While the boat has already been gutted for the most part, based on the photos of the framing under the galley, I'd assume the whole bridgedeck floor needs to be pulled and redone. The ceiling and overhead were covered in vinyl and either need to be replaced or faired to get that surface paintable- a ton of back breaking work!

12-18 months of full time work would might get this cruiseable. Crazy amount of work needed, but I'm jealous of whoever gets the opportunity to give it a shot.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Has the Woods Flica 35' in Grenada been mentioned here yet? A bargain at 55K Sailboatlistings.com.......... I only wish I was in a position to jump on it ;-( Apparently a production boat built in Cornwall by Palamos Boatbuilding according to the listing. Presumably it is GRP construction.......... I believe molds do exist for these hulls. I've grabbed a few thumbnails of it below..........full size is of course in the add.

Once you have replaced the outboard for 3-4k and restiched the sails and and and and and and its not a 'bargain'.

I'm roughly 2 years out..... I'd rather someone else was paying for storage or slip in that time....... otherwise it very definitely Would work for me.

Any news on why the buyer backed out? Typical eBay hijinks or a survey issue?

While they are not fast windward performers they provide a good liveaboard platform for people enjoying the cruise at tge moment with a lesser focus on the pursuit of reaching ever distant targets fast.

Sadly I can’t say (as in I don’t know). The few interactions I have had with the seller suggests a straightforward and motivated actor, so I can’t comment on the reasons why the sale fell through. If she’s still on the hard and for sale when I’m next in Florida, I may take a look in person. From a distance she seems to have good bones.
