Have seen these only priced this low in Mexico. Horrible boats but a good deal for someone that’s inclined.

How so? They’ve picked up a cheap hurricane boat and rather than mess about with diesels, have fitted two outboards. Clearly they’re not using the boat offshore and for coasting hopping, the outboards are at no more risk than a similar setup on a power boat.

These boats routinely go for $200k+ so for the price being asked, and with the limitations of coastal cruising until the diesels are looked at, it’s a good deal.

While that Prout looks a little rough, it really is in good shape for its age. Rugged little boats.

Here´s the virtual tour. Lots of cracks in the deck, lots of wood to repair... seems like too much work.

Doug, Further is a great looking boat!
Did you usually have it anchored out? It seems like the one I saw when I was working out of Norfolk a few years ago.

Further is sold pending survey and sea trial. i am optimistic that she will meet my expectations when i get down to Virginia, and i will sail her back to Halifax NS.

jon

Anyone here want to go with me? Current plan is to coastal hop to Glouchester MA then go offshore to Halifax (or Yarmouth NS)

That should be a great purchase LongJon, what do you envision your timeframe for sailing north? I might like to go.

Could be a modified or upsized Prout (Shearwater) the shape is right. There were very few other yards doing fibreglass cats in the sixties, most used plywood.
