Achievable boat porn. Far worse things to do with a free minute or two.

Best thread on the best forum - is there an award for that?

The BDC would steer me well clear of this.. same as the cat that’s currently on ebay for £1000 in Eastney.

This is at a great yard on the south coast UK with a rigger, small chandlery, etc all on-site.

2000 Belize 43

There's a 2000 Belize 43 for only $138K. It has newer sails and engines but it is in Mayotte.

Well that's a first. I had to google Mayotte to find out where it is. Pretty tough old passage to get from there to just about anywhere else. I guess that explains the relatively low price.

Can passage to SA and then Caribbean relatively easily but getting there to find the inside is trashed (no pictures) is a really big risk.

I've done the passage from Reunion to SA. That was the roughest, windiest, passage of a circumnavigation. Maybe I was unlucky.

SA to Caribbean was easiest ocean crossing I've done but maybe I was just lucky on that occasion.

From where the boat is, one should have the mixed blessing of the Agulhas Current pushing you along toward the cape at a pretty nice clip... a real asset until storms come barreling out of the Southern Ocean creating some of the most dangerous waves on earth. It calls for some planning and short hops where possible. The trail of most of the westward circumnavigators. I'd hate to fly all the way out there just to look at a boat and decide if I really wanted it. You've invested a lot of time and money on a gamble. An interesting part of the world, I would treat it as a vacation where you might decide to buy a boat and sail it home making it into a real adventure.....
