That Kelsall tri posted above is really cheap as in free cheap. Needs "restoration" though. In Connecticut.

Looks a good project for someone with time, as long as she’s not completely rotten.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I am the owner of the Fountaine Pajot Maldives mentioned above. I put it on Craigslist:https://fortmyers.craigslist.org/lee...565298589.html

I also have it in the classifieds in this forum. My number is in the Craigslist listing. She held up very well considering she was flipped upside down onto the adjacent boat lift. I've tidied up inside she'll make someone a great boat.

All in all I’m pretty uninterested in this boat but figured I’d post it anyway.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Hello everyone. Looking for some advice. I have located what appears to be a abandoned multihull in Florida. She has been stripped down to hull but is still afloat. Was thinking of putting some time and money into her. My need is to find the owner. She has had all identification removed. I only know her name and a brief history of her past. She was a Charter boat for a large company then sold after a hurricane (damage repaired then sold) Now she has been set afloat to die. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and help

Give a description, name of boat, and picture (if useful at this point) to the marina operators in the area. They should have a record, if it was moored at one of these.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I would also check with anyone living aboard their sailboats in the area. Note: When you say all identification is removed is this just the markings on the external hull? Have you gone inside the engine room and searched for a hull identification number HIN? It shouldn't be easy to remove the HIN...and if someone destructively removed it they may have done so for a reason. Is the owner trying to hide from a civil in rem forfeiture? If so, it is technically property of the US government until they resell it. It is possible to search court records for the vessel as a defendant. US Government Name search in the US Coast Guard data base?

Vessels like this are very common in the Philippines. Typically a Western owner with a surviving Filipina wife/gf who claims she now owns the vessel. They typically believe their vessels are worth a fortune, or don't have any idea how to transfer ownership. Therefore, what begins as a rather in shape vessel sits for many years until it eventually is worthless.

Wouldn't local law enforcement or coast guard perhaps know something about derelict boats in their area?
Would they not be happy if someone would perhaps take on away (lawfully) and therefore help finding out details, as long it's not a huge effort?
Just guessing, have no idea how that works in the states.

Advice above to go crawling around on "apparently abandoned" boats - looking for #'s - is bad. If you can see HIN engraved on one of the transoms from your kayak that's another story, and a perhaps a starting point for contacting the sheriff, coast guard, or fisheries & wildlife etc.

As you can see by the other replies, there is no easy/straightforward answer. If boat is documented- you say you have vessel name, then coast guard- public info. If it's truly abandoned, reach out to fisheries & wildlife (who run the derelict vessel program in FL I believe) and THEY will contact the owner as part of initiating the derelict/cleanup process, then sit on the shore, watch & wait.. maybe someone will show up eventually. Alternatively, talk to the county sheriff and pay their research fee to initiate a complex legal process after becoming familiar w/ FL's lost / abandoned property laws. Better idea is to try leaving a note on the boat, or see if you can find out more of the story from other people around the anchorage. I highly doubt any public agency will give out owner contact info.

2018 Farrier F43 $125.000

How about a nearly new F43 that has had some issues? In BC Canada.
