Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Nothing special to look for in a foam core boats. The usual stuff: delam, osmosis, blistering. Usually epoxy means less of these issues and that's a good thing.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

At that age it is probably a polyester build and there is nothing wrong with that. Check for moisture with a meter and use a plastic hammer to sound for delams. If it was built with epoxy that would be great but even if it was done with polyester as a one off it would have likely have been barrier coated with epoxy,, more likely in fact than if it were a production built gelcoated boat of that era. That tri looks nice.

G'day Steve,

I have found another listing by the seller for this Tri'. In one listing he list the boat as a 1981 42' Tri and in the other listing, he lists the boat as a 1991 Tri In one list he's asking $75,000 (make an offer) in the other list he's asking $65,000, no mention of offers.
I know all listings are subject to offers, well most are, and the offer may be accepted or not but surely the seller could get the age of his boat right in ALL listings for that boat.

I think he's doing good. I couldn't get the millennium right on a recent check I wrote. CRS runs rampant.

Yes Sand Crab but you didn't want that check presented for payment till 2020, or was that 2030

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

The check was for $19.74 so of course I put that as the date, too. Isn't that how your supposed to do it?

There is a foam Harris tri for sale in Maine. No takers at around 40K. Has been posted many times to the CF classifieds.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

There is REAL project Macgregor 36 cat on ebay right now, could with a lot of work, make a nice containerable minimalist cruiser for warm climates. I used to own one, very very fast.

We will be seriously looking toward the end of the year. Nice boats but not quite what we're looking for.
