Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

How about a Haines Hunter Tramp - fibreglass factory-built Farrier 680 - for $7K

Tramp Haines Hunter | Sail Boats | Gumtree Australia Caboolture Area - Banksia Beach | 1082058725

OK, so it's in Queensland, but these boats normally start at an ask of around $12K to $20K, so at $7K this one won't hang about.....

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Looking for a great Cat, at a very cheap price, for what it is, and if you're a marine mechanic all the better....

1998 Lagoon 410 located in the BVI's.
Used 1998 Lagoon 410, Virginia - 23005 - BoatTrader.com

Time for me to put on my lobster bib.....

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

That is what this thread is all about. $79,900 for an L410! I'm not saying it's a good deal but it is cheap and a project.

It looks a bit photoshopped.

A good price

A Trimar 36. $44,900. Looks decent for it's age with some good equipment. This one may have been on here before but I think it's worth a look.

30 to 40k on engines, 20k sails and lines , 10k standing rigging 10k electrical. 5k bottom job. 5k interior work. 2k trampoline. Another 20k in incidental stuff 10k for hull paint if gelcoat is gone which is common and you are 200k pretty quick. On a ex charter cat worth 200.

Sometimes they're better off stripped and made into reefs. I've got boats like that anchored all around me.

Ive seen a few,, on the other hand you could probably get that 410 for 50k. Do the bare minimum and have a pretty spacious home that you can still sail for cheap. Wonder what below the water looks like.

These hulls were for sale roughly 10 years ago, and likely by the same guy. When I saw the pictures back then there was no paint on any of the exterior epoxy. The Ground Effect was a terrific design but, sadly, these hulls have been sitting out in the open for an awfully long time.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I'm a wishful dreamer looking for a project...but fixed on one particular design - the Ocean Bird trimaran. Anybody seen one anywhere in need of rescue and restoration? Has to be basement, fire-sale cheap!
Designed by John Westell ( also designed the 505 sailing/racing dinghy amongst many other successful boats) and built by Honnor Marine in the UK. Also exported to the States. Featured in the book "Ocean Bird - 7000 miles in a trimaran" by Ralph Stephenson, a voyage from the UK to Cape Town, South Africa.
She's a swing-float type, 30ft LOA, with swing arms that look as if they've been cobbled together with bits of scaffold tower - but they were properly engineered, prototyped on a 40 footer and, if maintained, appear to have been durable and reliable.
This one is for sale in the UK:Honnor Marine Ocean Bird Trimaran Boats for Sale | TheYachtMarket

but I'm looking for one that needs a truck load of TLC.
