Chris White Atlantic 70F video

Cruising at 15, no muss, no fuss. Can't quite read the instruments, looks like 20? true?

In before the comment about the 57s flipping

What I wouldn't give for a 47!

And here we have 16 knots for 100 times less money... They seem pretty happy.

Re: Chris White Atlantic 70F video

CW does comment in the text below the vid that the boat is approaching the BVIs at 15 to 16 knots. I think that's boat speed on the upper right hand corner of the large chartplotter. Still fast tho. How fast have you had your boat, Mark?

Re: Chris White Atlantic 70F video

The analog dial instrument said SOG and was pointed at 16...

Do I see what looks like a spinnaker tackline rigged to the starboard bow?

Free-standing rotating rig, no front beam. Very Team Phillipesque, but looks better imho

Not steering out in that terrible weather?

Priceless. Lol

Anyone know if the 70’ Atlantic has the same “cruisey” combo of skeg/centerboard as the 57s?

It makes a lot of sense for grounding/beaching etc, but probably isn’t fast...Click image for larger version

I also see they did away with the oddly comforting but silly internal helm — the only times anyone hand steers are in tight quarters or in sporty weather. In both cases you need to be outside.

I don’t know- but having sailed on an A57 in moderate conditions (like 12-15 kts) and going 10-13 kts SOG easily while poorly trimmed (die to sail testing) I can say that it’s plenty fast.
Nice to run aground with something other than riders touching first from cruise perspective
I imagine. But, also nice to be able to raise boards and slide down waves in sportier conditions

Re: Chris White Atlantic 70F video

Would be really good to have the twin mast A70 race in C600 against the conventionally rigged A72:

I think it's an anchor bridle.

That might be Anna. It was big news in the day. The owner had a blog.
