Dazcat

I look at the 1150 and the new 1195. And i wonder if anyone tried one or have been on it. I cant find info on weight but it looks fast. And also wonder which pricelevel they are in for a complete build, sail away ready one. (yes, i will mail and ask later, but if you know).

So what can you share about Dazcat???

I have had the pleasure of sailing the new Dazcat 1150 "Drama Queen" with Darren Newton and Simon baker the designer and the owner builder of the Dazcat, what a pure pleasure to sail. fast responsive and points well , the price starts at 280.000,00 British pounds ex vat.
With 23 knots of wind at 100 degrees with the gennaker up we did over 17 knots.empty if I recall well, build in polyester and foam sandwich hand laminated.
in one word wonderful.
The weight is stated around tons metric

greetings Gideon

I just noticed a short movie was put on to You tube and part of this was taken when I was on board

Thanks Gideon.

I saw the african cat jacket and you when i looked at this video earlier today

I understand this is a boat with little more narrow hulls and it is faster than a lagoon and a fp. But i canīt really understand what you said about the weight

I like dazcatīs designs, and it looks like a good build boat, atleast on the pics.

I am sorry , the weight was stated as a bit below 5 tons in the water ready to sail
, it is a good build boat , a bit rough in the finish but a joy to sail , compare it with a Soubise 46 only smaller , I spend almost 2 hours on her handling her and really enjoyed it.
I do not think she is meant to be a home or for long periods on board but good for vacations and long weekends and the occasional race .

Greetings

Gideon

Thanks again.

I saw the number 5 ton on their homepage, but i was thinking it was more.

I have no plans to have it as a home (i have not changed my profile yet )

They will expect a mail from me, because this is interesting.

the least you should do is sail with them , they are nice people , and build a good sailing cat, one of the few good sailing cats around, not a condomaran for a change.
Have a great time

They will be at Southampton boat show in sept, with 1150 or/and 1195. And they are little busy this week, launched 2 or 3 boats....
