DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ...

https://www.catamaranfreedom.com/the...th-speedchart/

CAUTION, FACETIOUS COMMENTS TO FOLLOW.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the author knows diddly squat about cats...

All you poor owners of Fountain Pajot cats,

limited to half the speed of the lagoon 440.

I'm not saying any of these boats are bad boats, or good boats, but sheesh, where do these numbers come from? Half the speed of a 440?

Can a TS 42 really sail at 35 Knots, outside of survival conditions, or for 5 seconds tumbling down the face of a monster wave? I know they're supposed to be fast, but are they advertising 35 Knots??? I believe their website says 20knots.

Just another steaming pile of misinformation, about cats. I confess, I'm a bit pedantic about comments being touted as facts, being actual facts; but does this website and those like it not annoy you, no matter what you sail?

End rant.

Cheers.
Paul.

He proclaims himself an expert on catamarans, but has never sailed one and lives in a van. OK ...

Do you feeel better now, GRIT? Now relax and think how much fun you would have waterskiing behind a Gun Boat.

Actually, she'll reach 35 knots about 1.92 seconds after you drop her, free fall, out of the slings.

Mine will do that too!

Though I believe a 68 foot gunboat could do it, I'll bet owners of an ORC 50 will be upset to know a TS 42 can whip their butts.

Cheers.
Paul.

Sorry about that Matt. I guess that makes me an enabler! Damn.

Here's the nasty part so I don't make his webpage turn up any higher on the google search algorithm.

The author claims these are the top speeds for each cat.

Gunboat 68 35+ Knots
TS 42, 35 KN
Outremer 45, 25 KN
ORC 50, 25 KN
FastCat 435, 20 KN
Lagoon 440, 20 KN
Privilege Signature 510 (For reference) 13 KN
Fountaine Pajot Astréa 42 (For reference) 10 KN

Cheers.
Paul.

Re: DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ...

The same expert posted this video about a visit on a Lagoon 380

I don't care about his findings that the 380 is slow or something but...

He says this particular boat is in mint condition and nothing was polished up to look good and shiny for the viewing.
I almost spilled my coffee when I watched this. I know the history of this boat and nothing could be farther from the truth. It's a PoS with lots of lipstick.

This "expert" is clueless and has never owned any catamaran. His website is full of affiliate links and seems like a desperate attempt by a catamaran newbie to earn money.

Re: DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ...

Grit our 32 foot yacht has a top speed of 53 knots, we even reached that speed once. Admittedly it was on the back of a truck, but that's just a minor detail we don't need to tell anyone about.
Cheers

Re: DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ...

As I understand, all models of catamaran present in Panama City Bay reached 57 knots on October 10, 2018. Of course, that was during Hurricane Michael....

I love to ask the brokers at boat shows what the average speed for a certain model is. Until then I never knew a Lagoon 410 averaged 15 kts.! That was a good chuckle.
