Yep Dave your dead right. The reality is that even if your wringing the boats neck, its pretty hard to get 24 hour averages over 8 knots. You might as well go square and reap your 200 mile day.

Dave do you have polar diagrams for your St. Francis. Maybe publish them here.

I haven't had the chance to sail the tradewinds but I have read that a good setup is to rig two headsails and not use the main. Has anyone tried this on a catamaran?
