I think this guy is very well experienced and it looks soo easy to catch the drone. By a windy day it might get really dangeres.
The propellers are very sharp and might cut the hand easy. If there is a wind, drone is not calm and in my experience best place to land is the fordeck.

One more idea for creating a security zone while in remote areas: a helium balloon carrying a GoPro, floating on 100M+ of line above your boat at anchor. add in motion sensor to the camera and you'd know someone was coming a long ways off.

Great video to post, DestinyAscen. Watching him trying to get the drone on board gave me the idea that he could've slowed the boat down by luffing up, or what if you fly the drone slowly into the mainsail, then let it tumble onto the deck?

They say most men who fall of the boat and drown have their zippers down. I sense a change, now they will be found with their drone controls in their hands.

ha! manufacturers of Fish Fighting Chairs should take note. Every sloop over 27' will soon want to install a motorized Drone Throne on the taffrail.

Or have the boat automatically return to the drone controls if the controls sense water intrusion!

Or attach a safety line to zippers if in use. I assume the falls also tend to be from the lee side.

Re: Find That Perfect Spot With Your Drone

just to revive this old thread:

The Bebop 2 does not allow you to take off while sailing (moving), I suppose because that indicates some trouble with the GPS for land based operation

Nice drone at anchor, useless while underway :-(
