First sail.

Well it was eventful all rite. We left oakville harbour a little late 7:00PM. we had wanted to leave by five but I ended up working late. Maybe 5-7 knots of wind from the south. No problem perfect for motor sailing and my new to sailing admiral. Around 8pm the wind shifted so it was now blowing rite on the nose from the east at 15-17 knots. Now she was getting a little nervous. Next the lights go out. At about10:30 pm we finally arrive at snug harbour marina in port credit Ontario just a little worn out. To top it off the beautiful laminated tiller that the PO had made cracked at the base so the last hour was spent babying it as not to lose it.

Re: First sail.

This is in the Alberg?

Sounds a bit scary. Glad you made it OK. Sounds like the new boat is gonna need a little TLC?

Re: First sail.

I'm new to sailing too, but I think I have found out what rule #1 is, the wind is always coming from where I want to go.
It'll get better, fast. The learning curve is steep. In no time, she won't be nervous, you won't be stressed, and nothing important will break, it will be a relaxing time that you'll both be looking forward to.

Re: First sail.

I've got no problem with the learning curve just like they say sh#t happens. If you look at some of my posts you will see just how good of condition she is in. The admiral is going down to clean it up while I'm at work.
