Getting Our Feet wet

We currently own a small trimaran (Telstar 28) and sail the Florida keys a few months in the winter. We are thinking of buying a bigger catamaran and were wondering if there is any catamaran owners that would let us jump on their boat for a few days to see what its like on a nice cat. Willing to go to the Bahamas if needed.

We are in our 60s and easy to get along with. Don't smoke and not heavy drinkers, but we are known to have a glass of wine or beer.

Both born and raised in South Dakota, and we have sailed for several years with our boat and chartered mono hulls before that. Far from experts though and always eager to learn something new.

Please let us know if you have any advice on our idea or know of someone who would entertain a couple a guests for a few days!!

Since you’ve sailed and chartered a mono before, you may be better off chartering a small cat with a Captain for the first day and then going off on your own. It’ll give you more exposure and a better taste of what it’ll be like on your own boat. This way you can choose when and where to sail, a size/brand you may be interested in, etc…
It won’t hep you to get on an L450F or Gunboat, Outremer, etc, if you’re thinking of a Mahe 36.
