Has anyone bought a boat through the moorings?

I'm currently in the buying process and getting a 48' Leopard from the BVI Moorings. Ex-Charter, crewed version, nothing particularly fancy. I was originally supposed to close on the boat in August and put the deposit down in July... It's obviously now November and after 3 delays now, I'm supposed to close on it on the 9th. Assuming there isn't another "delay" due to weather, parts, covid, or.... Whatever comes up next...

So far, this has been one frustrating delay after another and the sales broker seems to be getting less and less responsive as the time goes by. On vacation, BVI holidays so no answer this week, at boat show, etc.. Is it reasonable to accept these kinds of delays and responses? I'm pretty close to just walking away from the deal if it gets pushed back again, but... I'd hate to miss out.

Has anyone bought a boat from the moorings and if so, what was your experience? If this is just how things are... I guess I'll just deal with it...

Sorry to hear about your experience. I don't have personal experience, but Wiley Sharp recently responded to a question about purchasing out of The Moorings fleet on Facebook and mentioned that any buyer would need to be ready for delays. Sounds like the price of doing business with them.

Better to have delays and have all the time to make this a safe transaction than being expose to a weird deal.
I could describe you what a "dream" dealing with some other large charter company has been.

The O'Kelly's have at least one (and I think more) videos talking about their experience with this on their YouTube channel

Market is hot, Leo’s are good cats so potential buyers lining up and they do what they want to maximize profit. If you have a deal, cat is in acceptable condition and you don‘t wanna chase another year after the next deal then play with, use the time to get the best surveyor and prep the rest as good as you can.
