Had this article already, Gord May, which is why we aren’t converting, but adding. I didn’t want the weight or cost of a converter.

Turn out Just Catamarans will be able to get us in for the 3 days of work, so we’ll sit tight here.

Thx!

That is essentially what we’re doing.

Re: Haul and Elec Work in Ft. Lauderdale

Why not fix / change the wiring why floating?

When I haul I only perform work required while on the hard, then "get out of dodge" to complete any remaining projects.

The haul is only a short haul for survey. The work will be in the water. The original request was because I thought we couldn’t get it done at Dania for months (we’re in Ft. Lauderdale), so I thought I’d look for an alternative place to do it all. We’re scheduled now so all’s we’ll.

Thanks!

@Stingo No! Just install a step up transformer at the shore power input to convert 110v input to 220v and send that through the original wiring. A 110v inverter gives you a socket to plug in 110v appliances with power from the 12v DC system.

Re: Haul and Elec Work in Ft. Lauderdale

I'm sure things worked out with Just Catamarans for you -- but they did a terrible job on our boat. It was a big disappointment working with them. MultiTech was a bit frustrating, but they did end up getting the "job" done. Right now, I'm more leaning towards recommending MultiTech than Just Catamarans.

Sail North to Fort Pierce and find better deals.
I had boats in Fort Lauderdale for 20 years, paid my dues and my bills, then some.

I will be arriving Fort Lauderdale around mid-November and will need a haulout for bottom paint and a fibreglass repair, and will also be needing some rigging work. I will be able to travel north toward Stuart, Fort Pierce.

I am looking for recommendations for a good boatyard and for a good rigger, anywhere from Fort Lauderdale north to the Fort Pierce area.

Thanks!

The only DIY yard "still standing" in the Fort Lauderdale area is Playboy Marine Center and is appropriate for sail boats.

That yard has fixed / defined access hours, less on the weekend, when the gates are unlocked to work on the boat.
