Re: Hello cat sea keeping ability

I've owned 3 cats and I've had many monohull encounters where they were faster to the windward... if they had a good bit more water line. Truthfully, while my dagger board boats would take anything 10 feet longer any time, and 20 feet longer off the wind, my current boat will stay with similar size cruising monohulls up-wind and leave them down wind, and do so in greater comfort and security.

Of the wind, well there is no honor in gloating, but it is NEVER close enough to keep track.

Now, if money is the measure, then we must compare a 32-foot cat to a 36-foot cat to get the $$ and room to compare, and then everything gets closer. It's a matter of taste.

Seakeeping, capsize, and speed are always discussed. Security on deck is another factor, and is much better on a cat. It's just plain hard to fall of of one that isn't racing. No fear going forward in a gale. Just saying.
