- From 26 to 30 knots: 1 Reef, 75% of the Genoa ; the mainsail traveler comes back to 60 cm to windward of center.
The Genoa traveler remains in place or moves slightly forward but it is adjusted so that the leech forms a propeller, the upper part dumping air out under strong gusts of wind.
- From 30 to 36 knots: 2 Reef, 60% of the Genoa ; the mainsail traveler returns to the 30 cm to windward of center, the boom is slackened to fly 50 cm leeward.
The Genoa traveler is moved slightly forward, the adjustment re- mains the same.

Lagoon 440
Quite interesting, there are actually web instruction when and how to shorten sail, I mean if one can't figure it out by one self then there is something not quite and right
Oh I forgot cats don't heel excessively they just go faster, not like a mono,
I guess when the form stability limit gets exceeded then it might defenitely be too late to put in a reef or two.

While a cat doesn't sail on it's ear like a mono, there's still clear warning you're pushing it. They do heel, and you can definitely feel the windward hull getting light.

No, they don't. On that boat, set up for 25kts would be 2 or 3 reefs, possibly reduced headsail. In that configuration 45-50kts would be handled easily.

Ha , Thats funny.

Obviously never been out in 50 knots.

48 knots was no problem. Can't see an extra two making all that much difference. How about you on your boat? What type was it again?

Isn't it one of these?
