In Ft Lauderdale for Holiday, Where do I Start

I'm in Fort Lauderdale for holidays and we want to check around but I'm not sure how to approach brokerages. We're still early in the process of trying to find the type and make of boat we want so a decision and purchase won't be many months away. I've never dealt with yacht brokers before, the ones I met at the Paris boat show were extremely helpful and wonderful, but if they are anything like car salesmen if you aren't ready to buy today they tend to move on.

I've tried to call the Catamaran company but they haven't returned my calls. So between the beaches and family my time is limited. Is it worth it to just drive down to the causeway and knock on a few doors? Should I make a few phone calls first? Any recommendations from this crowd?

Go on some family outings to a few Marina's.. make it a fun outing with lunch etc.. you'll see boats for sale signs with brokers names and numbers.. just call the ones on boats you like..

or... you can try the scientific method.

Go to yachtworld, enter the city and see what is of interest to you.....

Here is a link to all 2483 boats (power and sail) in Fort Lauderdale that are listed for sale.

(or you can even narrow further by sail boats and...) get 376 boats

Then narrowed down to catamarans, 76. At least 40 are 2014 and to be built. Less than 10 are in our budget. About 3-4 interest us.

At least you will save more time, and not have to deal with a broker at this stage when you are just looking.... and you shall be better informed as to what is available... Expand past Fort Lauderdale... and you shall see how it compares to the rest of Florida or the country.... or the world.....

Best of luck..

I agree with Dulcesuenos, I am currently using Peter Gulick 508-292-7333 with the Catamaran Company as my buyers broker. Using a buyers broker costs you nothing and gets you all the resources/experience/leads on vessels as they are actively engaged in what is available on a daily basis. Peter has been very helpful to me in my search.
