My suggestion would be to decide on the area that you plan to look for a boat, and then submit a post asking for advice on marine surveyors in that area. There are many folks on this Forum who have opinions on good, and bad, surveyors.

If you Google "marine surveyors associations", you'll get a list of associations that list certified surveyors.

Freetime,

This is an excellent time to buy a boat in the U.S., especially for a European, since the U.S. dollar is very weak against most foreign currencies.

There are a number of skilled surveyors who will provide detailed written reports on any vessel you might consider buying. Persons on this Board can recommend some good ones.

You might tell us what type of boat you're looking for and, generally, what your cruising plans might be. This information will help us to provide you with more specific information.

Thank you all.

You understund my english right. When i want to buy a boat i need a independent surveyors. The dollar is weak and the Government of Sweden did not want the euro some years agoe so the swedish krona is not as strong as the euro. But i will not buy the boat this summer....

It sounds like itīs no problem to find a surveyors in the us. That was a part of the question...

Sorry for misunderstanding your question, FREETIME.
But translated from German to English, an "inspection" could mean something different than a survey.
But itīs clear now.

Ahhh... that makes sense. He needed a "surveyor" rather than an "independent inspector" to survey the boat he plans to purchase. I had thought he was looking for someone "on the ground" in the States to help him inspect boats *before* they go to survey.
