Yes we are. Closed on our new boat Thursday. And yes, we paid more for a 21 year old cat than when she was new!
Are you still at Harborwalk?

Yep, still at Harborwalk. We'll be here for another month or two, maybe longer.

Congrats on the new boat. I'm happy to hear about that.

Much depends on how rapidly folks tire of living in the basement. Demand is rising quickly too. When the admirals start seeing galley-up and flat sailing....

Re: Is The Used Cat Market Getting Cheaper?

I love the subtle poke Still in dreamer mode, but it appears that used cat prices have dropped a bit over the past few years. Even more so in the charter cat builder market. Lagoon 440s being listed at 299k. Hoping that drives down the market for all builds, but probably not. Supply and demand always a large factor

I also note more owner versions in the charter fleets. Should reduce the sometimes ridiculous price difference for owner vs charter cats in similar condition.

Re: Is The Used Cat Market Getting Cheaper?

As an owner, I unfortunately think the headline is true, but it doesn't mean the market for catamarans will free fall. I think the mono market has gone through a for some painful correction. People was getting used that boats kept their price, but they don't anymore. Boats last pretty long and there isn't that much innovation that obsolete the old ones.

Also, what happened in the mono market was .... ~10 years ago Bavaria started to drastically lower the price for a new boat. Finally, increased productivity had reached this business the they other had no choice but to follow. I'm a bit concerned that this productivity boost has not reached the cat market yet, but Bavaria just bought Nautitiech. Be interesting to follow that development.

But the good thing for us Cat owners is that I think the share of people preferring a Catamaran is increasing. How much that will offset above, and the stream of x-charter cats into the market, future will tell. But I don't think it will free fall.
