Re: La Vagabonde - I don't understand

Sex sells
Beauty sells
Youth sells
Adventure sells
Exclusivity sells
actual content? Meh...not so much.

If you want to look at the worst of the worst there is a channel we jokingly call
"Sailing Ms Porn Star" Sub the porn for lone and you'll get it.
Cringy subpar sailor provocatively poses and disrobes. I watched about 2 minutes of an episode, compete trash, and shes got a vinmeo link where you can pay and watch to see her prance around naked. 19mil + views on one of her utube videos.
Sailing Ruby Rose is decent, No BS just sailing is good, Delos kinda lost steam, I listen to 59 north podcast, its very good and no baloney.

1. He’s a 10 and she’s a 12.
2. They have cute accents.
3. He has a great laugh.
4. Early on she was hands-down the best video editor AND music editor.
5. I met them on the street at Newport, RI boat show and they are genuine and nice.
6. They don’t do dumb scripting: “Are you Super Excited about going on this hike??” “Yes I’m super excited about going on this hike!!!”
7. They don’t have a dog that they ask stupid questions.
8. They are THE most discreet about product placement and don’t have advertisements. See SV Delos and others.

Re: La Vagabonde - I don't understand

Watched a few episodes of vagabonde, delos, but have moved on...prefer following golden globe, vendee globe, occasionally no ********, just sailing. Have no burning desire to subscribe, but with the world indoors for over 1 yr due to the pandemic, would expect that all of the youtube-sailing videos hits are up substantially. Oh, also have a preference for DIY sites as I repair/replace/upgrade my boat. thnks

Agreed, but I think their 30' mono is 50 years old. No frills. Full of info and actual sailing. Very knowledgable, capable and down to earth sailors.

if you want info there are way more informative channels,

Is it simply because they were one of the first?

And BTW how come I knew that they were getting a Rapido 18 mths ago? I thought it was common knowledge...
The simple answer is they are likable. They both are good looking and likable people.

Vagabond are nice, likeable people. They always give a shout-out and help those who help them, unlike Delos who doesn't prop up people who do work for them. They seem genuine and care about the environment and actually do what they say (most of the time).

Re: La Vagabonde - I don't understand

Ditto on the early years of La Vagabonde. It was much more relatable with them sailing around the world in an older 43' mono than the million dollar new Outremer cat.
I think their popularity is based on the seven years of building up an audience on Utube.

The secret to every successful business is to generate mutually beneficial transactions. They have figured out their audience and I have to tip my hat to them even though I don't enjoy watching them.

I totally agree! Love those hardscrabble sailors that seem to make it work.
Plukky and Marguarite, my kind of people.

The worst yet is the two yahoo's on "gone with the winns", hooked a fish in the Bahamas, recorded it, all the while not figuring out how to slow the boat or go in reverse to retrieve it. Dumba$$'s let 500 yards of monofilament out in into the sea when it came off the reel, yes they actually recorded it.........

Am I a couch potato? Sometimes, I hope we all are.
Am I a dreamer? Yes, once you quit dreaming you may as well die!
As far as the Wynns go, they’ve sailed from Florida to Australia, how about you?

Re: La Vagabonde - I don't understand

The problem with the Vagabonde, is that they need to make their regular post attractive. Showing some skin, inventing silly stories, and dramatize a bit of uninteresting senario is mandatory after a while. I Don't look any more at their show: boring!

I'm right with you there, it's the same as 'Big Brother' and all the other so called "reality TV". Have never watched them and never will, I want to get my kicks myself not watch someone else getting theirs... Must be a lot of sad individuals though who do watch them, says a lot about modern society.
