Re: Lagoon 52, think twice before purchasing it

Frank! So sorry to hear about your problems with Lagoon. This is not new to me as a very good friend of mine works as a skipper on Lagoon 62 and he told me identical stories about the boat and the company. Luckly for him and the owner of the boat, the bought it trough the broker in Poland and requested delivery from la Rochelle to Gdansk captain by the skipper provided by Lagoon with him on board. He said that anything that boat that could break, broke, problems with the electronics, engines, electrical. He said that one night they totally lost power . My friend found the leak in the electrical compartment and was trying to trace the problem with the manual, but the things were installed in the different places . There were whole bunch of other problems too but they wouldn't take posssesion of the boat unless there were all fixed. The owner of that L62 is a one lucky guy having the skipper like my buddy who's for his very young age is very experience and new what has to be done before they were paid in full. The French have totally different attitude and work ethics if they have any. I lived In Martinique for a few years and know so.

Either one of those would be enough for me to say HELL NO and spread the word about their lousy customer service. Together, it's a total non starter.
I haven't read a real list of stuff that needed repair. Gearbox oil leaks and electronics isdues 6 months after delivery.

But to keep everything in perspective. Even the best QC can't see an oil leak 6 month before it happens. That engine could also live in a St Francis.
The question is how the dealer / builder deals with this. To me it looks like the dealer is to blame. And of course Lagoon for having a loosy dealership and not improving the aftersales service. This is a problem of french business attitude

As a Lagoon owner for the last 6 years i can say the product is awesome,it's just the company does not want to know you after the cash is in the bank.
If they could get the idea of customer service from Lagoon sorted then they would have a lot less disappointed owners.

La rochelle to the river rhine, canals to the river danube, down to the black sea and then cross the med to arrive in portugal.
Quite a distance to cover in 6 months, see map

You can get a 52 down the canals... I'm amazed.. would have thought down to Bordeaux would be quicker in that case

Yea the atlantic side would be much shorter and quicker. The river/canal route should be possible as long as the mast is taken off. The rhine-main-danube channel is made for inshore ships bigger than a lagoon. Not to be confused with the narrow canal du midi.
I read a book of someone who did this trip i the 90s in a small boat. Sounded adventurous

i guess this is thread drift par excellence!

I agree, but too late for me

Frank A, I can only offer sympathy. That is a very sad tail & I feel for both yourself & your wife.

Where on Mallorca are you? We are in Palma. Perhaps a friendly Canadian face would help encourage you & your wife.

So Frank... when are you going to offer up some more specific details regarding your boat problems? Without specifics, i'm beginning to think your issues are more superficial that substantial. Currently, you have a rather longish thread going on here with nothing more than speculation for your readers.

It's time to offer up some details. It can't be that everything is wrong with your boat....

I've offered up a solution which you've pretty much ignored along with other suggestions from your readers.

Are you just looking for sympathy? Or some answers.

I agree! I am looking at lagoon and use forums to gather information about issues etc... until I am ready to buy .

I don't want to be jaded by the rantings of some of the people here just bashing for no reason! More info please.
