Lagoon TPI 37

I am considering purchasing a 1993 or 1994 Lagoon TPI 37. Can anyone tell me if any improvements were made between 93 and 94. Also considering an Island Spirit 37 (2001). Since I have not sailed either boat any suggestions, comparisons between these boats would be appreciated. We plan to do extensive cruising in the Caribbean and would live aboard 3-4 weeks at a time (2 people).

There were not a lot of tpi 37s made. In 94 the keels were shortened 6 inches at some point, ie not all 94s had this change. Most of these boats have been modified from their original state.

I like both boats. The island spirit is huge for a 37foot cat. Ive sailed on one for over a month in the carribbean several years back. I would suggest the Tpi lagoon would sail better, but havent sailed one. I believe the island spirit to be of good build quality and a reasonable performer although the low bridge deck does slam quite easily in chop, its the only real downside i see. Its also very beamy for its length (22ft ?), which ive been led to believe is not ideal ( not that i know). Tpi was considered a high quality builder, ive just sold my boat which was a tpi build and my experience confirms they built solid boats. The lagoon has a better bridge deck clearance, most likely sails better but is older and smaller.
