Lagoon Windows

Does anybody know what material the Lagoon 50 salon windows are made of? I am talking about the big sliding doors that lead out of the main cabin to the aft deck?

We are trying to clean some sticky residue off of the windows and are not sure if they are glass or lexan??? (It would be good to know before we start with solvents or the like )

Re: Lagoon Windows

The simple way to take "glue" (as used on label stickers etc) off of plastic is by moistening the glue residue with Lighter Fluid (a very refined grade of kerosene).
This will not bother Acrylic, Styrene or Polycarbonate plastics, nor glass.
If in doubt, test the fluid on small part of the plastic. Look at it in 24 hours.

Okay. We can that on a small piece of lexan. Some wise guy taped LARGE "X's" and wrote the boats name in sticky tape over these windows before we came along..... Its quite an eyesore.

Still would like to know what the windows are made of. Not getting any response from Lagoon or a few brokers we emailed.

Re: Lagoon Windows

If you scratch around a bit in one of the corners with something sharp you should be able to tell. You might also try tapping (not in the corners) with a screwdriver handle or similar. Polycarbonate will give a duller sound than glass. The sure way would be to smack it hard with a sledge hammer. If it breaks into a million pieces it's glass. If it pops out of the frame it's Lexan.
