Lerouge design cats

I would like opinions about the 44/50ft catamarans designed by Erik LEROUGE. It looks like there is strong experience but your opinion is most welcome.
thanks

They make me drool! Definetly not a condo cat but a sensible amount of accommodations with weight centered and long bow and stern extensions. Nice space with a lot of pace?

Re: Lerouge design cats

Lerouge designs are sensible, quick and true to the multihull ethos. They don't try to be all things to all people. They make excellent long distance cruisers and are one of the boats I always spend time on when I seem them listed. Well worth a look.

Tournier Marine in France build his Freydis design.

They include the Mantas and Ocean Cats and the Freydis lines and almost all have the cambered forward beam. BTW There weren't many OCs made and 2 are for sale at Cat Comp.

I don't think you'll hear Lerouge take credit for the Manta or Ocean Cat as the molds were splashed of one of his designs without his permission. The Solaris Sunstar also came from a Lerouge mold but was quite a bit heavier than the original Lerouge design.

Re: Lerouge design cats

I have not sailed the OP's Lerouge size cats yet but have chartered a 11.6m Lerouge designed Azuli. The best I can decribe her is a "real sailor's cat".

I also test-sailed a 33' Rackham, again a perfect "sailor's cat".

In a German yachting magazine approx. 2 years ago Ralf Weise of CatSale tested a 49' Freydis and came away saying "this is definitely the fastest cruising cat around".
