Lines to cockpit

I am looking for a way to put turning blocks on the mast. This is for a catamaran and these blocks need to be like 2’ in up from the base. There will be 9 lines total. Is there anything that can go around the mast to affix these blocks to? Or any other way?

Re: Lines to cockpit

I had a custom bracket fabricated to take, I think, 6 or 7 harken blocks. This took all the reef lines, main halyard, topping lift, outhaul and a downhaul back to the cockpit. Best thing I ever did for the boat. Bracket didn't cost as much as all the blocks!!!

Re: Lines to cockpit

Post a photo of the mast and base. Maybe they can be attached to the base with a strop with bungy cord to keep them off the deck at the right orientation.

We got one of these plates. We were pulling the mast anyway, and I figured I might as well add a plate for future use. Still haven’t done the modifications to run our lines aft, but it’s there for when I get that far down my to do list.

Re: Lines to cockpit

Here is one: "mast plate" (with more than you need)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/31429194252...65622df2988a5a
2" up means you'd need to add a long shackle to each one to get the right angle.
Are you going to have deck organizers and clutches for 9 lines?

Don, the OP writes about 2' not 2"...

A photo from the OP's deck around the mast would be helpful to come up with a suitable solution though.

Re: Lines to cockpit

Here's a couple of photos of the bracket I had made. Work was done in Grenada by Grenada Marine. Sorry they are not of better quality...

Rutgerson makes some Deck Blocks and line organizers. https://www.rutgerson.se/

I have been happy with the quality of their gear

Not an expert at all, but to the extent possible I’d prefer something that wraps the mast all around rather than something attached to one/two/three sides only. I wonder what loads would be tolerated 2’ from the base before bending/compromising your mast.

Good point. It did work though. Got us through a complete circumnavigation with wind speed up to 58 knots and big, big waves and was still in place 10 years later.
