Owner financing in general is usually seen in buyers' markets, and I haven't seen any indication that we're in one. Cats are in demand. Why would someone want to write a loan for the sake of selling an asset that they could just as easily sell outright and be done with it?

I would love a no income verification loan but have not found any for boats..I am also a little skeptical.

Owner financing on an asset that is designed to be able to go anywhere in world (at least ocean) and outside of my local jurisdiction? Not likely.

A building... that I can ride by and see in good repair... I would consider.

I'm carrying a loan on a commercial FAS salmon troller. These boats fit the in-demand category. Could I have sold the boat directly? Sure. In this case the buyer and I got acquainted over a period of two and a half years, long enough to establish some trust and confidence. It all depends on finding a seller who trusts you and is willing to support your project (someone who really likes you). Of course your bargaining position isn't very strong.

The seller can get a 1st preferred ships mortgage on a US documented vessel.

Thank you for the words of encouragement. We are going to finance some and pay for it outright. Too much trouble trying to get this thing going. You know the feeling when you should have been sailing yesterday? LOL
