Typical, well maybe not typical, price list here. Not for the faint hearted or mere mortals.

Re: Luxury catamaran brands worth considering

JPK - might also like to consider the Shuttleworth 52, abandoned project, been around for a good while.

The joinery is spectacular, just not to my taste and I can see weight savings in every drawer, door and piece of trim. The performance will be excellent but then I am biased.

Might be just what you are looking for.

Which boat? It’s an incredibly hard thing to answer because no two boats at this level are spec’d the same. The devil is in the details!

Curious about Knysna, Privilege, Mconaghy, Broadblue - whichever someone had ready info on.

But I looked at the link from Tupaia and am feeling like a mere mortal, or maybe fainthearted...

Well you’ve got a complete box of chocolates there that are completely different animals. All great choices for the right person. My advice is get out there sailing on the boats that speak to you, then you can start to refine what’s important to you.

Re: Luxury catamaran brands worth considering

Not very clear what size etc you're specifically looking at but..Sounds like you might find more options if you consider:
-custom/one of boats, and
-"just find the right layout" update the finishes, most used boats need a refit anyway

Always wondered about that cat, I think it’s been on the market for maybe 15+ years?

I can't believe she's 7.5T. I would add at least 5T to it.

Commissioned by Ian Munro, don't know the full story, fall out with yard, cost over run, budget issues who knows. He subsequently bought and cruised a 53ft Simonis with aerorig.

FP are nice catamarans, with pros and cons vs. Lagoon, Bali, etc. but I wouldn't say their interior finishes are any better than the other production boats. We just got back from chartering an FP Elba 45 in Greece.

FWIW - in doing some more research I came across a news article from Lagoon from 2021 talking about offering a "premium program" for all cats over 50 feet.

https://www.catamarans-lagoon.com/ne...remium-program

Their website currently only discusses the premium program for the Sixty5 and Seventy7, but I had a brief discussion with a dealer yesterday and he believes that the premium program may also be an option on the Lagoon 55. Waiting to hear back on that, but if it's possible to get the same level of finishes as the Sixty5 or Seventy7 in the 55, that would be pretty compelling.

If I may ask, what is WL displacement or loaded WL definition for you?

I had very large water tanks 1600 litres (another discussion*) that I could use as a measure of the sailing weight by adding a set quantity of water. The tanks are directly below the mast so displacement changes are relatively even.

Fully loaded for ocean cruising (400 litres of water) including everything for ocean passaging the sea water is below the WL (7.8T). If I added an extra 300litres of water I could bring it up to the WL so sailing weight fully loaded about 7.5T**.

* I have since reduced the size of my water tanks so don't have a reliable weight gauge any more. In some countries you are required to buy the entire volume of a bowser regardless of your capacity so original tanks were made very large enabling many weeks at anchor or in harbour where use of a water maker was unwise, I never sailed with them full. The problem comes because being virtually empty most of the time mould build up and cleaning became a major issue.

** Sailing weight for coastal cruising could be reduced by about 750-1000kg by removing spare parts, lubricants, specialist tools, extra dinghy, extra outboard, food surplus, compressor, para anchor etc etc.
