Annapolis is awesome for this purpose and a must attend in my book. I also highly recommend Cannes in September, as well as La Grande Motte in April. It’s really close to impossible to know the differences unless you’ve had the chance to walk through each boat and see with your own eyes fhe difference in quality and construction methods. Hint…if every surface of the interior of the boat has a liner glued onto it, it’s done that way because it’s cheaper.

While they don't have a flybridge or a front cockpit, if you're looking for top-notch build quality and a luxury interior fit and finish be sure to look at the St Francis 50. A truly excellent luxury catamaran.

I think this is where everybody goes wrong with cats. High quality does not automatically mean heavy exotic timber. The "apparent" lower quality of mirror finish carbon fibre weave is a perception. You are correct in that for a cat low weight is of paramount importance if performance is to be maintained or even achieved in the first place.

This is not the case with many charter cats that embrace the "Ikea" look and use MDF for cabinetry and even personnel doors.

While it would seem defeatist from the beginning to talk about resale value, It has a major part of whole life costs. My Privilege is over 20years old and still in good condition, and holding value. The modern Privilege are a better boat and IMHO well worth a proper look rather than dismissing them as Ikea clones

Privilege have always maintained a high end quality that are very far removed from the "Ikea" interior and is reflected in their higher price compared to those that churn out charter cats. It's probably the reason that very few appear in bare boat charter fleets.
