Marinas in Western Mediterranean

Hi all: We are moving our cat westward in the med (2011) and plan few months (june-July-Aug) in and around spain, portugal. Can anyone recommend anchorages or marina's! It is the high season so any suggestions would be welcome!

Personaly, i'm moored in Duquesa on the Costa Del Sol about 18 miles from Gibraltar. It's a very friendly, quiet marina with helpfull staff and all the marina based bars, restaurants and shops are English speaking. We're also far enough allong the coast to be away from the 'package holiday' scene so it's mainly older people and families.

If you want value for money though, there is a brand new marina at La Linea, right next to Gibraltar. It has floating pontoons and has to be the cheapest by far in this part of the world. You've also got the bonus of being a 10 min walk from Gibraltar itself for shopping and Duty Free goods.

Anchorages;

Portugal; Alvor, Portimao, Faro/Olhau, Taviera.

Spain; El Rompido, Puerto Sherry/Cadiz, La Linea, Almerimar(West of marina entrance in 2-5mtrs, Mazzaron, Mar Minor, Torrevieja, Moriara, San Antonio, Andratx, Alcudia, Soller, Pollensa.... Minorca to many to list...

Not yet. I tend to plan ahead and keep lists of boat services in various countries. I'm trying to buy a boat in Turkey so right now I'm gathering Med info.
