Marine yard near Wshington DC that can handle 27-foot beam cat?

I've searched and searched but am failing to find a Yard that can haul our 50-foot LOA, 27-foot beam catamaran. The big trouble is that her masthead is 70-feet high so she cannot get under fixed bridges in the ICW.

Does anyone know a yard from Delaware and points south where we can do this?

I would call Liberty Marina in Edgewater, MD. 410-956-9323

If they can't haul it, they'll know who can. Good luck!

Port Annapolis or Bert Jabins in Annapolis/Eastport might be able to.

Liberty Marina doesn't have haul out facilities for cats (that is our home port). We just completed haul-out for bottom paint at Port Annapolis, but we're only 21' 5" beam. Their website says their max beam is 26', so that won't work for you unfortunately. As an aside, I was very impressed with the prompt, professional, friendly service at Port Annapolis.

Georgetown Yacht Basin Inc - hauled our L450 26ft beam no problem at all, and friends L500 28ft beam as well. They have a great yacht rigger, the travel lift operator is skillful and the marina crew are experienced and helpful. Only downside is access to large chain stores (Walmart, Home depot, car rental etc) or hotels - 15 miles away in Middletown, DE. Fresh water is bore water so recommend a filter. Phone service is not great with AT&T. They have moorings too, or you can anchor in quite sections of the Sassafras for free.

Re: Marine yard near Wshington DC that can handle 27-foot beam cat?

Had the same problem beginning of last summer. Have a cat with 26' beam, 71 air draft plus antennas. Was on the lookout the entire trip up the Chesapeake.
Tested Port Annapolis but came up short/narrow by about 10". Ended up at Georgetown in Maryland. Work was fine although only a couple of restaurants in area. Can be live aboard while hauled out (with power) and decent hardware. Worked fine for leaving the boat on the hard last summer while traveling out west.

Used Sherwin Williams bottom paint based on a recommendation and frankly it sucked. Was in the Caribbean all season and the paint was fairly useless by February or March.

Staff in the yard and store good to work with and had necessary skills. Is a bit of a trek up the river, but channel is well marked, if a bit crooked.

Yes they put Sherwin Williams on local boats that haul out for winter because it is cheap and so seemingly lasts a year, but not tropical waters it seems! We have used Seahawk bio cop (wait for the Defender specials). Biocop worked well for us last year with 7 months in the Caribbean and 5 months in Chesapeake. When we hauled there was very little slime and about 10 small barnacles on sail drives (Trilux 33). I did two gentle bottom scrubs whilst in Caribbean. We thought that way may not even need to re-coat as we used grey color on black and no black was showing. But we put just one coat on this time to see what happens.

Hartge Yacht Harbor in Galesville, MD has a marine railway that could probably handle you. (They also have a 50 ton Travelift but I think it's too narrow for you.)

Re: Marine yard near Wshington DC that can handle 27-foot beam cat?

Georgetown Marina in the Sassafras is the only marina I know that can handle 27ft. Bert Jabins is 21ft (just handles our Leopard 40 at 20'2"). Pleasure Cove Marina (Bodkin Cr) and Dennis Point Marina (Potomac River) handle big cats, but not quite 27ft. Campbell's Bachelor Pt marina (Oxford, MD) has a 70T lift, which may be limited to 24 ft.
