Does anyone have a checklist for looking at a boat?

In my mind is a long list where each item is checked on a scale of 1-5.

Like curved salon seats. Sexy but a 1or2 compared to square (5)

Could be a long list. Survey list?

Would depend on the kind of boat but I would think if you start a thread by that topic, between the bunch of us we could probably put a pretty good one together in a hurry covering the whole bunch Sounds like it would make a pretty good *stickie* (one that's saved for future reference).

Put it up on a new thread Therapy and see what happens. I'm qualified to speak as to certain things, and I for one will pitch in.

Thanks for that Fastcat, I figured it was something along those lines. What is the average rental price?? Is it set by the broker or the boat owners or is it just negotiated?

Cheers!

Maybe Adearo would allow you to use his spread sheet that he has made to compare catamarans with , a very porfessional job and he has done the work already
Or maybe he would be willing to share his knowledge with you since he has sailed many different cats

We always use our own Cats but I know from Catana that they pay in between 500 and 1000 Euro,s per day depending on the type

As Gideon suggested I am quite happy to post my spreadsheet but unfortunately this forum won't allow me to attach excel documents.
If anyone knows how to get one attached please advise.

Looking at the list of cats I see the Admiral 38 in two berths by two different companies.
Did they not go bankrupt?
Admiral Yachts 38South African Boat Builders Business CouncilC 12
Admiral Yachts 38Admiral Yacht ManufacturersL 5
Plus if one clicks on the Island Spirit it goes to the Admiral site.
Island SpiritEastern Yacht SalesC 19

Plus which cat is the one that has mid hull engines??

And a lot of them either make it hard to find a polar diagram or they are not available at all on the sites.
And only pictures of the fluff. I want to see seacocks, wiring etc. and that is hard to do even at a boat show, what with all the crowds trapesing through.
Does one get to see that stuff only if one is looking at a specific one that is for sale?

Admiral did not go bankrupt but bought or took over the Island Spirit boats that needed to be finished after their bankruptcy. The cat with the midships engines was the St Francis 44 but this is not made anymore, Knysna Cats bought the Moulds and has modernized this cat but I believe the engines are now always in the rear.

The African Boat builders counsel only represents the South African Boat builders and also Admiral.

This is one of the reasons for us not to attend boat shows anymore there is just no time with prospects or customers we prefer to sail for 2 days to really give the customer a chance to get to know the boat.
They can even sleep on board if they wish. Boating is not only about sailing , cooking sleeping having a drink etc all are part of the deal.

Hi y'all! Just wanted to let you know that Glacier Bay is signing up qualified people for electric boat rides during the Miami Boat Show. If you are interested in experiencing diesel-electric propulsion first-hand, you should definitely check this out.

I won't be going to anymore boat shows in the Miami - Ft. Lauderdale area. These two cities have laws that have been deemed illegal (i.e. anchoring laws) but still enforce them. The only way to get their attention is to boycott these shows. Believe me, the NMMA wouldn't like it if nobody showed up.
