New Boat price. 10% cheaper this year!

I thought I'd share this quote with you where a new Lagoon 42 is 10 percent cheaper this time than last year.

I'm hoping for further reductions, particularly in the used market.

It would be great to hear your thoughts on
1) If you think prices will fall much further
2) Suggestions on where to pick up a nicely priced well equipped boat - e.g. where do most failed dreams end (a bit mean, sorry!) ? at the end of perhaps an Atlantic crossing ?
3) on the best time of year to buy in the Med and Caribbean

4) Strategies on what to do with a boat acquired at end of high season in the Med, just live on it in say, Algeria until spring?

Re: New Boat price. 10% cheaper this year!

The devil is in the details, be careful because manufacturers like to play with the numbers from year to year by changing out what is included in a “base boat”. But yes, it’s most likely that you can purchase as boat this year for less than last year, it’s the natural cycle of markets.

I’d suggest not to focus and saving X% more and just spend time finding the right boat that fits your needs and get busy living the lifestyle. If your budget does not allow for a new cat, get a used, if not a used cat then get a monohull. Just don’t be one of these people who are predicting doom and gloom and waste 2-3 years of your life you could be out living they way you want because you might save $100k,.

You can make more money, you can’t make more time.

Tahiti, New Caledonia, New Zealand. All places where cat sailors (not picking on cat sailors, am one myself, but more of them go on sale here for some reason) find the Pacific is not so pacific, and find the thought of crossing the Indian Ocean daunting.

On the Atlantic side, Trinidad and Grenada, but you are more likely to see boats that got laid up for a hurricane season, and then plans changed and they became neglected until the decision to sell was made.
