New Cruising Cat

Will she enter the ARC? This rally seems essential to determine how bad catamarans perform compared to monohulls.

Depends. What does ARC value most? Lives or money?

Re: New Cruising Cat

Let's hope the boat will be somewhat better than the renderings !!!

I bet it will not happen. I bet this one will remain on the dreamer's board.

Gunboat tried hard at something similar and they did not make it.

This or that?

And such competitions, what are they all about?

Never participated in one. They kicked me outa kindergarten when they found I smoked.

I like that post (OP). It shows and interesting way to think aloud.

Yeh, i remember everyone in the junk rig community saying bene just copied the junk rig. Haven't heard anything since 2014 though. Probably not commercially viable for various reasons. Looks like people are trying inflatable versions now.

Re: New Cruising Cat

Clearly, ideas need prototyping first. Sometimes the one who prototypes runs out of money, at other times they run out of dream.

And some ideas never work. Maybe they are not good ideas then.

Think of catamarans - have been around for ever, but they only did pick up on the cruising ground in the 80'ies.

It sure is the best of lives to be try though. Ask any inventor.
