Re: New Trimaran build

Got a new order that came in.
After looking @ various electrical system renovations I figured I would have to make sure things were clean from the start.
So to label the wires I figured I would use printed Heat Shrink Tubing.

For that I purchased a Brother P-touch labelprinter.

Now, I do know this specific labelprinter isnt "labeled" by Brother to support the printing of Heat Shrink Tubing, but I found a vid on Youtube were its used exactly for that purpose, so figured I would give it a try...

The Brother PT-E300 was made specifically for heatshrink. How do you do it with that model?

Hi Haiqu

I found someone online that used this model for printing on heat shrink tubing. So I figured I would buy it and try it for myself.

Just put the tubing cassette into the printer, connected it through USB with the computer. That gets your explorer to open a window with a exe file on it.
Start the exe file and your good to go. Type, print and cut.

I tried it and it works. The printer doesn't start smoking, the tubing doesn't melt or gets pre-shrunk and the prints don't rub off

I also looked @ the PT-E300 but now I got what I want for 1/3 of the price.

And ok, U still need a computer to operate the printer, but who doesn't have that nowadays ?
(Btw U don't need power as the printer is powered with internal AA's)

Re: New Trimaran build

It would appear you have sanded a few hollows into the chine, this is the consequence of using a power tool. Use the power sander to knock back the big lumps but use a torture board to do the shaping, more work but much fairer hull.

Thanks Reuben

The power tool I use @ the first stage ( after applying thickened epoxy to glue everything together)
I still need to do a second pass with fairing compound (much easier to sand down) before the final sanding/fairing to make everything flush.

Re: New Trimaran build

It took some time to post another video, sorry about that.

I’m moving in a short time, so @ present I’m busy doing a lot of other stuff besides the boat.

This video is a little update on the cockpit bunks

If U like the video, please give it a thumbs up ( and subscribe ? )

Hi ForSeTi I have been looking through your posts and I want to say congratulations on your progress it looks great! Are you planning on cruising her or are the Scarabs more of a day sailor design?

Re: New Trimaran build

Hi Little Otter

Thanks m8.

I guess U could catalogue an Avalon 9 more as a Day sailor.
However instead of the 6 bunks it normally has I'm changing the complete interior to suit max 2 and I'm beefing up the rigging because I plan to cruise on it.

Re: New Trimaran build

Ok that's what I was thinking they were, I had looked at the designs in the past but didn't go with it because I didn't want to do all the modifications I thought I'd need too to cruise it and make the Admiral comfortable I've seen people modify mono daysailors for cruising but I think you're the first person I've seen brave enough to do it with a Trimaran I'll definitely be looking forward to watching it get completed and hearing your experiences cruising it
