*Our discussion leader will be Dr. Tim Herzog, from Annapolis Maryland.**About Dr. Herzog - Reaching Ahead Counseling and Mental Performance*Tim holds a PHD in counseling psychology, and master’s degrees in both sport psychology and clinical psychology.* But more to the point, Tim has extensive experience working with sailboat racers, Olympic level athletes, and military personnel, to help them perform in the face of challenging emotions and circumstances. *

Sailing is not always gentle breezes, and relaxing sunshine. * Knowing that the **** can hit the fan, in a potentially life-threatening way, may keep us from continuing to grow as sailors.* And when things do wrong, our emotions can get in the way of an effective response—or potentially galvanize us into lifesaving action. *

Most sailors are more comfortable discussing the intricacies of sail design or rating rules than engaging with the mental and emotional side of sailing.* But our minds are as important a determinant of performance (in the largest sense), as the cut of our jibs.
