Re: One off vs production (used)

A "production" boat comes with the potential assistance of an owners group you can join (a great forum for information and assistance), the likelihood of a lot of common parts availability and a general history of how the boat performs and holds up over the long term. A "one off" won't provide this information as a rule. That being said, yes, you can sometimes find a deal on one off boats, but not always. I have a "semi-custom" boat that consists of a well known builders hull and then pretty much everything else was customized. I am very happy with the boat, but there is not a "support group" out there and every project becomes unique, which can be frustrating at times. I have owned a few sailboats over the past 40 years so have a bit of experience, so owning a bit of a unique boat is less of a challenge at this point in my life.

I guess I would recommend going with a production boat if you are relatively new to sailing for the reasons stated above. I would also be careful totally trusting a broker to provide you with adequate information on ANY boat. They are interested in SELLING you a boat, not necessarily making sure that you are getting the boat you truly want or need. Do your own research and be deliberate about making a final purchase.

I think it is this one you saw, I believe it's been renamed.

It was on the market for 1.5 month and now stated "sold".
I am truly jealous of the new owner.

Would anyone know how many of these were built? More than this particular one?

Love the design of that boat, I was also wondering if they built more.

Re: One off vs production (used)

A one off may be build better than a production boat. Selling one becomes the problem if we are speaking of we poor folk. If we are speaking mega yacht I guess it's one offs since they generally don't build them on spec..
