Re: Perfect Cat for the Tropics

Had a chance to check this out at the catamaran co booth at the boat show and talk extensively with the salespeople. It actually is a pretty well thought out boat: same hull molds as the standard, so saved on cost, easily reconfigurable from a scuba boat to an evening drinks sort of thing, so business owners can have a couple of options and get more use out of an expensive asset.
I'd also take back my earlier comment, I could see this working very well as a day sailer or weekender on the Chesapeake as well under private ownership. Compared to the standard Gemini which always feels cramped, stepping onto this boat is a great feeling of openness in a small package.

Re: Perfect Cat for the Tropics

How about a design something like this daycharter cat I found in Thailand. I termed it a picnic/weekender cat. Notice that most of that cabin area in enclosed with soft canvas covers that roll up for ventilation/viewing.

Now just add a sailing rig to it. I'm working on such an idea.
