What were the mast heights of the boats that had been struck relative to the majority of other boats? If you're the tallest piece of metal sticking up in the air in a given area, you're gonna be the one to get hit more often than everyone else.

I would've thought similar, but whilst most of these strikes were whilst out at anchor, a few were in crowded marinas and two of them at least were 'surrounded by masts much taller than ours' when they were hit.

I have heard before that cats are more prone to strikes. There's been various theories about it.
