Re: Prout Snowgoose 37 comments

Hello, This is the moist worthwhile thread I have read!!!!

I had a Prout 33 years ago which I sailed from Turkey to England. It is interesting to read your comments on weight distribution. The load carrying is my major concern as I do like to carry diving gear and plenty of other stuff including a whitehall rowing dinghy but thats my issue!

I am now in the market for a snowgoose elite/ prout 38 or escale 39 in the Pacific North west but have read some worriesome reports about the 39 flexing and genral build quality that the quest and snowgoose do not seems to share.

Can you offer advice on sailing to windward please. the best angle, what I should be expecting from a snowgoose in open water.

Thank you
Tim

Can any one share some info. as to what material the Rudders are made of on a 1987 Prout Snowgoose. I see drip marks coming down on the starboard rudder after hauled out. It is dry now but still see the drip marks. Are they foam inside overlaid with glass ? This might be a serious issue, if so how do I repair this ? Thanks for your help, Lawrence

The rudders on our 1983 Prout Snowgoose are glass with a foam core (which unfortunately has water in it )

Foam inside is a later addition then. My 74’ Snowgoose has hollow rudders. One rudder had a surface crack and I opened it up as a safety precaution. No water or foam inside, just air.
