Rain gutters

Does anyone know of a rain diverter for a catamaran coach roof top to divert water away from front windows of the salon on a Lagoon. Every time it rains the water splashes off the deck in to the front windows on to the woodwork
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Rain gutters

Several approaches: the ‘eyebrow’ as is done on the older Fontaine-Pajots; PortVisor shades; or go to a plastic trim supplier which may have an extrusion that will work for you

Re: Rain gutters

I looked at a pic so I can see your problem. That's a big slope draining forward which would require a substantial diverter.

How about a little forward bimini? Visualize an entry awning on a building but much smaller and lower. It only has to stick out a few feet and you could attach it with snaps or Velcro to the underside of the coachroof overhang. It is a custom build but it's pretty easy for people that do these. Also it doesn't affect the looks because it's removable. You could also fab one up in FG.

Re: Rain gutters

The fabric extension awning is a good idea. If it was self stowing/roll up it would be very easy to deploy when needed. The roll up awning is an idea I've been playing around with for a few years for the front of our hard dodger.

Instead of a roll up awning, could install a bolt rope track on the underside and slide in the awning when needed. We made these awnings for our cabin side eyebrows to prevent the rain slash back from the deck into the open ports.

The other possibility for diverting the rain water is with a small ridge/dam near the front edge. This would drive the water to the front corners instead of all along the front edge. We incorporated these on the sides of our hard bimini to keep our cockpit drier and to avoid being dripped on as you exit the cockpit.

Re: Rain gutters

Here’s what we’re using to divert the rainwater from running down into the cockpit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PF9CQTM...v_ov_lig_dp_it

Thanks for your input! I am not sure how you used the gasket to divert rain water. My problem is I can’t leave the forward salon windows open while it’s raining, when hoisting the main, or overnight in case of rain because it drips on to foredeck and splashes in to salon.

I get it; you need something much more substantial. We have an eyebrow as was mentioned, so we don’t have that issue, but we always get rain water that comes down along the sides and finds its way into the cockpit.
I put the self adhering seal as an fyi. I’d make, or have somebody make an eyebrow custom fitted.

Re: Rain gutters

I made rain gutters for our cat by laminating fiberglass over a wooden mold. After shaping the gutters were then glued to the cabin top with polyurethane sealant. I molded in tubing in the corners to attach a hose that can be run to the water tanks.

Re: Rain gutters

Interesting idea. It would keep the drips off from a heavy dew/light rain, but may not have enough capacity for heavier rain.

Found it in white in longer sections (>25') https://www.amazon.com/Trim-Lok-Drip...s%2C203&sr=8-3
