If you want AC on demand and to be effective and you plan to be away from shore power, you really need a genset.

All of this discussion about running AC off of batteries is cool and you can do it for 1 cycle but recharging the batteries for that cycle will require diesel one way or another.

If no AC a genset stops being essential.
Not the case anymore. There are now DC air conditioners that pull much less at start up and after that.
Generators are no longer required with a good setup

How do you get the power back in? That’s a ton of solar to support AC

Re: Replace Generator or switch to 100% solar/wind?

We currently have a failing battery bank AND rainy weather
2500 watts if solar covers us during the day if some sun gets through but at night the low battery alarm is going off every couple of hours

Glad we have a Genset.

In my home for heating i use daikin SUPER INVERTER and 2000W solar panel. heating Daikin consume only 150-300W maximum . i heat home saloon 45m2 But Toshiba SUPER DAISEIKAI 9 INVERTER consume less from my Daikin my neighbor have this new SUPER DAISEIKAI 9 INVERTER and i see consuming 100-250W for heating. Now i check consumption is 200W temp 25°C outside 13°C last week consumption 18,5 kwh previous week 16,7 kwh average 1.6 kwh day. why nobody produces like this inverter AC unit for boat.
my in home AC unit is DC and gas is R-32.
