Samsung refrigerator icemaker

Hello all,

I have a Samsung RS65R5401SL Side by side refrigerator/freezer. The frig is only a few months old and the icemaker has stopped producing ice. I’ve confirmed the water pressure is good, and the temp is cold enough. Also the test button runs the test cycle of the icemaker and everything works. It now only produces one tray every 12 hours.

Anyone else had this issue? Thanks!

Ah! “The old Samsung ice issue” as Maxwell Smart might say.

This is and has been an issue with Samsung for over 10 years. First of all, they are crap. Samsung should stick to TVs and phones. The ice maker and the “cooling tower” in th3 back of the fridge, freezing up ate th3 issues. High humidity doesn’t help.

The solution? Defrost for 48 hours MINIMUM. Put fans into your freezer and fridge. The water maker line freezes inside the fridge too! On top of everything else, even when working, it doesn’t make much ice.

Well that’s about what I expected. No real fix to operate this thing on a boat in humid caribbean air.

We’ve had tremendously good results with just using a table top ice maker. Works flawlessly, and is usually the MVP of appliances on passages. If and when it breaks, throw it away and buy a new one…I’d never put a permanent ice maker in a boat after seeing how well this solution works.
