..I got confused with the amphibious, hybrid Aston Martin...the sucker does around 150 knots on land as well....

Our 1973 Cherokee had the same setup. A steel I-beam that spanned the bridge deck. The I-beam had chain plates that tied into the inner sides of the hulls. The shrouds also attached directly to the I-beam, so to me it took a lot of the stresses of the structure. Was still in good shape when we sold the boat in 2004.
